My Resume

General Bio
I went to Menlo-Atherton High School (MA). I played varsity soccer and lacrosse all
four years and was captain my senior year in lacrosse.  I graduated from the
University of San Francisco in May of 2009 in International Studies with a focus in
culture and politics, and a minor in Latin American Studies.

In addition to several non profit internships working with human rights and social
justice issues, I studied abroad in Bilbao Spain for a semester and worked in
Nicaragua for a summer.

This past summer of 2009 I enjoyed being an Au Pair for a Spanish family with 2
girls in Barcelona.  I am currently studying to go to graduate school.

Child care experience
Kids are the future of our world, and in what better can we invest in than in kids?
One of the most important things in a child’s life is education. That is why I think
helping kids do the best they can to succeed in life is so important. School and
teaching global values today is of great assistance in a child’s education. Tutoring
and childcare are among the best ways to help your child grow and learn
everything they need to. With a nine year old younger brother, I have been
surrounded by children since I was 12, and couldn’t think of anything more
wonderful or enlightening.

My experience with all different ages from innocent and beautiful newborns to
sweet and sassy preteens began ten years ago when I first started sitting for my
teacher in middle school. During my high school years I had at least 6 different
families I sat for regularly during nights out, during the day just to play, and while
the parents were home and needed an extra hand. I love spending time with kids
playing, having fun, and doing what they like to do- whether that is soccer,
painting, board games, playgrounds or inventing games.

When I was 16 I went with a family and their three young kids (1,3,6) to Pismo
beach for a week as their live in nanny and had a fantastic time at the beach and
at restraints and continue with such experiences. In mid September I recently was
an Au Pair for two months for a Spanish family in Barcelona while they were on
vacation.  I was with two girls; a 7 and 10 year old and we traveled around the
country during their vacation.

I am very flexible with what parents have planned and can adapt to almost any
situation necessary for the kids.  As a senior in high school I was an assistant
coach for an AYSO soccer team of 5th grade girls and loved it! I have also
volunteered for Ronald McDonald House Charity, playing and caring for terminally
ill and physically challenged kids, for a year in high school when I sat for kids. I
have several families that I sit regularly for and started with when the kids were 4
and 6. It is so incredible to see them learn and grow.  For years to come, I plan on
being around kids and working with them in many different ways.

Education
I have experience tutoring an 8th grader in all subjects for a school year while I
was in college. Doing this, I learned how important a positive experience with a
tutor can have on a student. The summer of 2008, I also had the opportunity to
live and work in Nicaragua, at a local impoverished school teaching all ages. I was
working on curriculum development for the English teacher for all grade levels, as
well as working inside the classroom assisting the teacher. That positive
experience led me to seek out other work in educational support.  I currently tutor
for Silicon Valley Tutors. At home, I have seen education in action with my nine
year old younger brother, now in 4th grade, and how important it is to support a
young mind and how far that will take a student.
